About Us

Kim Kastl, EA, President, Secure Taxes Incorporated

I launched Secure Taxes in 2004 and in that time I have grown from having one staff preparer to four. By being well staffed I am able to offer my clients timely and efficiently prepared returns. Some of the standard policies of my office are:

  • I offer a 5% early bird discount to clients who have their information to me by February 10th.
  • I offer a 5% discount to clients who complete the paper tax organizer.
  • I offer a 5% discount when the tax information is mailed in or dropped off by March 1st.
  • I annually provide my clients with an Engagement Letter outlining our services.
  • Tax work for both the Federal and CA returns are billed by the form - a basic fee schedule is available on request. Other entity work and out of state returns are charged at our current hourly rate of $200 per hour. For consultation and tax planning the hourly rate applies.
  • If there is an annual fee increase it will not exceed 10%.
  • Payment for our services is due when the services are rendered. I accept cash, checks and credit cards.
  • We are a full service tax office open all year.
  • Clients may be secure in the knowledge that their returns have been prepared accurately since all returns are reviewed by a second tax professional before they are provided to the client.
  • Our office is protected by an alarm system, nightly we lock-up client files and our server is turned off nightly and locked in a separate room. We do not put any information regarding our clients in the trash we use an on site shredding service.

What is an Enrolled Agent?

EAs are the only tax professionals tested by IRS on their knowledge of tax law and regulations and, because they are federally-licensed, the only tax professionals that may represent clients in any part of the country. They provide tax preparation, representation, tax planning and other financial services to millions of individual and business taxpayers. EAs adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct and are required by the IRS to complete annual continuing professional education. Like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), EAs are governed by Treasury Circular 230 in their practice before the IRS.
